Trattoria DA GIOVANNI

*

Via San Lazzaro 14 - Trieste

Trattoria DA GIOVANNI This is a typical example of what is known as a "buffet" in Trieste: cooked ham in a bread crust, hand-sliced cured ham, home-made Istrian cuisine, fried fish, tripe, goulash, vegetable soups, pasta and oven-baked dishes. Local Carso and Slovenian wines. During the winter, boiled pork meat: porcina, cotechino, tongue, frankfurters with sauerkraut. In summer, outdoor tables are arranged in the pedestrian area of via San Lazzaro. The establishment was founded in 1961 by Giovanni Vesnaver from Momiano d'Istria, and has been subsequently run by his son Bruno with sisters Ada and Anita, and 82-year-old mother Elda as busy as ever in the kitchen.
