Pirona Confectionery Shop, founded in April 1900, is one of the Italian Historical Establishments and was a meeting place for the intellectuals at the beginning of the century. In that period Joyce often came here from his nearby home. Its art-deco glazing and furniture are original and are a typical Trieste architectural feature. Excellent coffee and chocolate are served here. The latter has been awarded a prize as the best hot chocolate in Italy. Where to shop
