From 16th October to 7th November, the Carso restaurants will organise the ninth edition of Flavours of Carso. Seventeen “gostilnas” from Val Rosandra (Trieste) to San Michele del Carso (Gorizia) will be offering their specialities, this year dedicated to local folk holidays. Each establishment will have its “Flavour of Carso 2010 dish: the “štruklji”, that is strudel wrapped in a cloth (“in straza”) and boiled .
The range of dishes on offer will be completed by the typical product corners to be found inside restaurants and sixteen shops and bars, offering wine, olive oil, cheese, honey, fruit and early produce of the season, coffee, while the six participating bakeries will prepare “corneti” and “štrekljiči” cakes.
For three weeks there will be an intense calendar of events, evening parties, exhibitions and degustations. On Saturdays and Sundays, the guides of Curious of nature (TS) and the Visitors’ Centre of Gradina di Doberdò will propose excursions to the Trieste and Isonzo Carso dedicated to “Nature, History and Gastronomy”.
In the above-mentioned period - even later if booked in advance – visitors will have the opportunity to taste these special menus and purchase the products of the typical product corners in all participating establishments.
