If you wish to preserve or recover your psychological and physical wellbeing and feel always active, dynamic, full of energy and... fit, within few kilometres you can choose between a crystal-clear sea and the steep Carso slopes. Alternatively, there's nothing better than a walking or biking tour along one of the many pathways. If you have an adventurous spirit, you will only have to take your pick, although this region also caters for visitors who would rather spend a couple of days in relaxation.

The Kugy path

The Kugy path dedicated to the famous climber and writer, begins at Aurisina (Nabrežina) and links the "look-outs" situated along all the Carso ridge as far as Crogole (Kroglje). When walking in the lush vegetation, visitors can admire naturalistic environments of rare beauty, the sea, the city of Trieste and, in the distance, the tops of the Alps.

The Weiss path

The Weiss path is an excursion itinerary around the village of Aurisina (Nabrežina) characterised by historical, geological and botanical elements of great interest. The path is named after the great Trieste climber Tiziana Weiss.

Sailing boat trips

the sea and the Carso are two inseparable entities. Fishing is a centuries-old tradition in this part of the world. Very soon in the village of S. Croce (Križ) a museum will also be available. In the meantime, you can sail along the white cliffs of the Carso on a boat with a fishing rod. At the foothill of the Carso, waters abound in fish!

The "Riselce" path

The "Riselce" path A path rich in historical, archeological and especially natural attractions in the area around the village of Sgonico (Zgonik). It is named after the dolina it leads to and is provided with several information points and direction signs that help tourists along the way. On crossing the centre of Sgonico (Zgonik) on your way back, stop at the local renovated wine-cellar with its wide selection of local wines.

The Fishermen's path

The Fishermen's path a steep path leading from the village of Aurisina (Nabrežina) to the sea, used by the fishermen for centuries. As you walk down the path, you will cross the well-known Southern Railways which, on the occasion of its inauguration, brought to Trieste Emperor Franz Joseph in person. Since then, thanks to the railway line, from the cave near Aurisina (Nabrežina) its white marble was used to embellish the palaces of all Austria-Hungary.
